Filling, Capping and Labeling Series

Cap Placement
The present invention provides an apparatus for automatically performing cap removal, cap fill and cap replacement operations on syringe bodies without any manual handling of the syringe bodies. The apparatus includes a series of holders configured to hold a plurality of syringe bodies in substantial parallel relation with each other and with the dispensing ends of the syringe bodies extending therefrom. The holder has a support member disposed to move towards and away from the dispensing ends of the syringes. The support member may also be actuatable to perform cap removal, cap fill and cap replacement functions on the syringe bodies.
During operation of the apparatus, the cap C is moved by the drum 72 to a position where the cap C is engaged in the jaws 160 by the slotted cam lever 134. At this position, the syringe S is moved to a filling station 90. During the filling process, the syringe S is filled with a liquid medicament. After the fill is completed, the syringe S is re-capped with the cap C in a caps check position.
During the caps check position, a sensor (not shown) is used to determine whether or not the cap C has been replaced correctly. If the cap C is not properly placed, the syringe S is stopped and/or an alarm is sounded by the apparatus. Upon stopping the syringe S, the drum 72 is rotated to another caps check position where a similar cap-check process is performed.
